still longing for the beach

moroccan wedding blankets

Bouncing back and forth in the design blogs these days are a new found love for Moroccan wedding blankets and now I too am smitten. My friend has a great pillow from ABC made from one and then I found the amazing store L'aviva who has a few too.
i adore the glut of sequins on this blanket

now where are you going?

Daphne Guinness

Wearing and insane amount of Loree Rodkin's rings and other jewelry. I applaud her for keeping things interesting.

feather necklace

So beautiful and smart and surprisingly modern. I think feather jewelry conjures images of dream catchers and turquoise south west jewelry but not this necklace.

Rheanna Lingham creates a "delicate blue real feather long chandelier necklace" that is a real stunner.

Tail of the Yak

Tail of the Yak Trading Company is a Berkeley , CA institution for beautiful ribbons, antique jewelry and lovely soaps and treasures. It is one of those magical places where you find yourself buying tiny glasses and horse hair flowers because they are just too beautiful to bear. Tail of the Yak has the most stunning collection of 18th and 19th century jewelry and I would like to own and wear every single piece!

L'aviva Home has the most beautiful textiles gathered from around the world.

bolivian aguayos

"these textiles have been used in the andean region since pre-hispanic times and are regularly worn by aymara + quechua women to carry their babies and personal goods. every region has its own colors, designs + techniques. weaving of each aguayo is done in two separate parts which are then sewn together; this central seam shows decorative details and colors that highlight the beauty of the tapestry. 100% sheep wool"

mixed fabrics. sumptuous results

i long for an outdoor space to host my dinner parties

from the wedding of lauren + zack

my birthday

For my birthday I made a dinner that could have feed 20. And for the ten of us there were leftovers for lunch the next day. As usual I didn't take a single picture of the food. It was a very fin and delicious night.
that is my birthday cake known a Peach Melba but made with nectarines instead and served with raspberry sauce. i topped it with pretty edible pansies and was given a votive candle to blow out. as i had over looked that detail since i made the whole dinner and cake from scratch by myself. which i might not ever do again. especially on ones own birthday.
a good time was had by all
