here's lookin' at you
Cat's Eye Shells, operculum or foot-closure of a sea-snail called Turban Shell or Turbo. Used as an Evil Eye to protect the wear because they look so much like an eye. Victorians made them into jewelry to ward off evils. Sailor we either given these or gifted these to female relatives or lovers.

The Getty Villa in Malibu
The Getty Villa is filled with beautiful plundered artifacts, sculptures and boasts a great view of the Pacific. I was there this time last year and it was sunny and warm. Are you seeing a pattern? Anywhere but here. This winter is lasting forever!

Saipua
These are from Sarah at Saipua. She really had her own style of mixing flowers, colors and textures to a beautiful result. Very innovative. Plus anyone who can either be inspired by a salad or see her work in one has a unique eye. Tasty. And how could you not love her pooch apparently "back from the old country." saipua.blogspot.com

Wall sconce in the original staircase of the Met. Not the grand one we think of now. That was built later.
